A quick hello!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to stop by and say **hello!** before I head out to go to the gym.

As promised, I will be posting pictures of hubby's special day this weekend.

I am working on some sleeves (did I mention a local coffee shop has agreed to carry my coffee sleeves?!? Yep, I am so very excited about that!), more details to come.

We also have a couple of friends coming over for dinner and canasta. It looks like a promising weekend so far!

What about you? What are you up to?

Hope you have a **lovely** Saturday!

Lovely treasuries I am featured in. Thank you ladies!

I know it is hard to find my potholders in the middle of so many gorgeous finds! Thank you so much Three Sister's Harvest!

Mona, from the Sewing Granny, included me in her treasury as well! Mona is a fellow Angel, from the Etsy Angels team.

Thank you so much ladies!

Today is hubby's birthday! We are on our way to breakfast. Eggs benedict; sounds yummy, yes?!?

I will post pics later. Have a lovely day!

Sharing....

There is usually a barrier between me and the world.... The only person I currently allow inside this barrier is hubby. I love how I can be myself around him and still be ok with it. I am often scared that if I let people in, they will either hurt me or be disappointed with what they see.

Because I want to change that, and let my hair down more often, I have decided to share some things about me, positive and areas that need improvement.

The good (thanks hubby for participating in this survey <3):
loving
funny
kind hearted
loyal & devoted
hard working

The bad:
insecure
the occasional pessimism
lack of motivation (this is just a nice way to say I am lazy sometimes)
jealous
afraid of trying new things, or being uncomfortable

What makes me happy:
Leela
Spending time with hubby
Watching House
Sewing & being creative
Helping a client who knows nothing about accounting. I love when it is all said and done
Helping those who are less fortunate
Good food

What makes me sad:
People who are selfish and petty
When I have tons of ideas in my head, but I am too scared to fail. It is good to dream, but you must act on it as well.
My brother & sister in law are moving away
That no matter how hard I work, I never seem to have enough money to do the things I want to: travel, volunteer, dedicate more time to my Etsy shop, help the needy, get my teeth whitened and a decent camera

It would be nice if I could know more about you too! I love when my readers post comments, and I promise to get back to each and every one of you. If you prefer, email me at oohleela{at}gmail{dot}com.

Business tip: Picnik

Selling online and on Etsy is fairly new to me. It feels so good (and it makes me feel so alive) to be able to learn something totally new everyday. But excitement aside, I am not going to lie: it has been quite a challenge, so I thought it would be helpful if I shared some of my struggles and tips from time to time.

Taking quality, professional looking pictures has been a big stumbling block to me. I took a photography course in college, but back then all I was interested in was taking pictures of my puppies while having fun. Never did I think that I would actually be using such a skill in my life.

I don't currently own a fancy camera. In fact my point and shoot camera is about 8 years old. I am just making do until I can put some money aside to buy a more appropriate (and expensive - yikes) DSLR camera. Which means I have had to rely on photo imaging software to come up with (somewhat) decent looking photos. BUT, photo imaging software is a foreign concept to me.

Yesterday however I came across picnik.com. Picnik enables you to edit your photos online, at the click of a button (or 2). It is super user friendly and intuitive, unlike Adobe Photoshop. And best of all it is free (and I always say if it is free is is for me).

Here is what my picture looked liked before I used picnik.com:

 And here is the after:

Better, yes? If you have any tips you would like to share, I would love to hear from you! Have a great week!

Free Valentine's Day printable cards

Visit the Etsy Angels blog for a great Valentine's Day cards tutorial! Check it out

I have a new computer!!!

Hello everyone!

I am beyond ecstatic today. I have been using the same laptop for the past 4 years. 4 years is a long time, especially for a relatively cheap laptop. But truth be told, I have always loved Mac's. In fact, a year or so ago, hubby took the Apple sticker that came with our iPod and stuck it on top of the VAIO logo on my laptop. It was there to remind me to work hard and save money so that I could actually afford to get a MacBook. I am proud to say that that day has finally arrived!!!

And to celebrate, I am going to make a nice laptop sleeve. I am trying to decide which tutorial to go with. Help a sister out, would you?

This one is from Sew, Mama, Sew!

And this one is from The Cottage Home:

Fabric-wise, I am thinking about using a pink and teal floral pattern on the outside and pink/white polka dot fabric on the inside. This is my first time making a laptop sleeve. Any helpful tips?

Have a LOVELY day!!!

Love week!

Something to think about this Valentine's Day...

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." Corinthians, 13:1-8

I have so much to celebrate this Valentine's Day: I have been blessed with a wonderful family, loving parents, an amazing and caring husband and a sweet, one of a kind puppy. I have also been blessed with friends, not many, but definitely people I can always count on.

That being said, I need to make plans to take my honey out on Valentine's Day. We are on a budget, and I would love to do something more creative than the usual dinner. My husband loves old cars, museums, bulldogs, to travel, the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. Any ideas?

Have a wonderful week, full of love and lots of inspiration!
