Think Pink BNR

And we are on! Come say hi! Ooh Leela is donating 20% of all sales proceeds to help support Breast Cancer Awareness and Research.

We have a very special BNR tomorrow!

Prayer box by Maranda
I have recently discovered the joys of participating in a BNR. What is a BNR you ask?

BNR stands for "BUY AND REPLACE." Someone creates a treasury on Etsy and if you want your item featured in this particular treasury, you have to buy one of the items featured in the treasury. It is so much fun: you get to meet a lot of wonderful sellers and it is a great opportunity to get some exposure.

If you are not an Etsy shop owner, it is still fun to participate because sellers usually offer tons of discounts, so you may end up getting a great deal that you would not haven gotten had you not participated.

Based on my experience, if you are a seller, the key to a successful BNR experience is:

1. Great product photography
2. Don't have the most expensive item in the treasury. You want to see what the other items are priced at and try to stay in the lower end if possible
3. Participation is super important: when I am able to participate and interact with the other people who are participating in the BNR, I sell more items.
4. BNRs are a great way to get hearts. Don't forget to heart other sellers' items and add them to your circle!
5. If people invite you to attend a BNR (and chances are they will send you invitations after your first BNR experience), go and say hi! Even if you can't play, people do appreciate the fact that you took the time to visit and favorite the treasury.

Why am I telling you all this?!?

Because tomorrow, my dear Etsy Angel sisters and I are hosting our very first BNR! We are raising money in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

I would love if you joined us between 5pm EST - 8pm EST tomorrow, Thursday 6th, 2011.

Welcome October! Think Pink month!

The more I think about it, the harder it is to believe that we are in October! October? October? Yes, siree.... October indeed.

I am particularly excited this month because my Etsy Angel sisters and I will be working hard to raise money to support a great cause: breast cancer awareness.

This month, I will be donating 20% of all  sales proceeds to this worthy cause. I will be adding new items to the Think Pink section throughout the month, so be sure to stop by often.

Some great Pink items by some of my sisters:

Sharla, aka Beaded Tail, will donate 25% of all sales proceeds in the Think Pink section of her shop. You can find this beautiful bracelet here.

What about this beautiful owl sewing kit? I got this one last week and I absolutely LOVE it. It sits next to my sewing machine and it sure makes me smile every time I look at it. Melana, aka Ozarknana, will donate 50% of all sales proceeds in the Think Pink section of her shop.

Mona, aka the Sewing Granny, will donate 50% of all fleece blanket sales.

Oh, and I love this car charm. Our newest member Kim, from justbyou, is donating $2.00 for each charm sold.

Here is one of my Think Pink sleeves:

We are always looking for great causes to support. If you have any charities/organizations that are near and dear to your heart, please let me know! You can leave a comment below or send me an email - oohleela at gmail dot com.

We are always looking for new Angels to join our team. If you are interested I would love to hear from you.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Xoxo's

This month's charity: Love for Malacia Babies

As many of you already know, I belong to the Etsy Angels team on Etsy. There are about 15 of us that get together 5-6 times a year to raise money for worthy causes.

This month, starting on July 15th, the Etsy Angels will be raising money for Love For Malacia Babies (LFMB). Ooh Leela! is donating 25% of all sales proceeds to this wonderful cause.

LFMB has done so much already for so many families and they need our help! Make a purchase from any of the stores listed below and a portion of their total sales will be donated directly to LFMB to help them do what they do best....support parents with children that have Malacia.

Can you possibly imagine having a baby and knowing something is wrong and no one seems to know what? That is sometimes what it is like when you have a baby with Malacia. Malacia is described as: "Airways carry air from the nose to the lungs. Some children are born with airways that are too soft. Soft airways do not hold their shape, and air does not flow through as well as it should. There are three places where airways can be soft: the voice box, the windpipe, and the breathing tubes. A person may have softening in one, two or three parts of the airway. This softening is called Malacia."

From the founder of LFMB, LeeAnna, "Almost 2 years ago we created a support group on Facebook, while we were living in the hospital with our youngest son. The group has been such a great support for over 200 people. With the support group we have reached 3 different country's and just about every state in the United States. With so little support found elsewhere we decided to take it a step further. In March of 2011 "Love For Malacia Babies" received their EIN and prepared to file for non profit status. LFMB will one day be able to help families who have Malacia babies. There are so many things we would love to be able to do."

Shop with the Angel's below and help us help them! Happy Shopping!

Lovely finds - Etsy Angels edition

There are 3 days left in March! Oh my! Why is time going by soooo fast?

As many of you may already know, I am a member of the Etsy Angels team on Etsy. We support worthy causes 5-6 times a year. This month all of us Etsy Angels are working together to raise money to support the Jefferson County Victim Assistance and Annual Courage Walk. We do so by donating a portion of our sales proceeds.

I know times are tough, but if you are shopping for a gift or looking for something special, would you please check out one of our shops before you make a decision?

I spent some time visiting my friends' shops and I wanted to share my favorite finds with you.

Shop 'till you drop!!!

Hello friends!

I have decided that it is time for a much needed shop "renovation." This means new designs and new products.

This weekend only: get 50% off everything in the shop!!! That's right!!! 50% off. Isn't that awesome?!? Simply enter coupon code halfoff at checkout.

I hope you can stop by: Ooh Leela!

Oh, and to make this even cooler, not only can you save money when you shop at Ooh Leela! this weekend, you will also be helping "Jefferson County Victim Assistance and Annual Courage Walk"!

10% of all sales proceeds this month will be donated to the above-mentioned charity.

A little bit about Jefferson County Victim Assistance and Annual Courage Walk:

The Courage Garden is dedicated to crime victims. Designated for commemorative plantings, it is also a place of respite for those involved in court cases. Proceeds from this event will be used for maintenance of the garden, training victim advocate volunteers, and to help victims of crime or other traumatic events in our community.

The Annual Courage Walk is a time to honor the strength and courage of survivors. It is also a time to speak out in unison for crime victims' rights and services today and in the future. Proceeds will be used for costs associated with training of volunteers, printing educational materials for crime victims and for maintenance of the The Courage Garden. The Courage Garden is located behind the Jefferson County Courts and Administration Building at 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden, Colorado.

The 18th Annual Courage Walk will take place on April 16, 201.

As always, thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
